Earlier this year the live-electro duo KIDSØ, which is the combined talent of Mortiz Grassinger and Martin Schneider, shared their release of the cheerful, and emotionally passionate soundscape driven single “Childhood”, which premiered on Earmilk. The single is the title track from their highly anticipated upcoming album which is slated for release later this year. With support on the rise from the likes of Mrsuicidesheep, Get The Sound, Chill Masters, Data Transmission, amongst others, the single has also been added to the Spotify Electronic Rising playlist, as well as Worldwide FM, and NPR Music’s playlist. In total, the pair have racked up over 3 million plays across streaming platforms. The duo, who are based in Munich, Germany, has followed up the success of this single with a video. With a sound focused primarily around percussion, heart-felt pianos, sweeping strings, analog synths, and electronic drums, KIDSØ has found their sound and continue to expand upon this vast and cheerful world with no end in sight. The video for “Childhood” was shot in multiple locations around the world, with a message that radiates hope, and positivity for the human race. It showcases scenic footage that takes the viewer on a global journey to different ends of the earth, whilst the children’s choir fills the listener’s heart with wonder and positive energy, the polyrhythmic tones, and cheerful percussion compliment the dusk colors found throughout the video.
KIDSØ shared a little bit about the journey and production process behind creating the single “Childhood”:
“The single “Childhood” is the first step away from the cold and quiet Northern regions of Europe, which gave us inspiration for the debut EP ‘Apart’. The production of the track started in late 2017 and got its color due to frequent trips to South Africa in 2018. At that time, the main vocal melody evolved and got complimented by sounds from the countryside.”
