“Up & Down” is arguably one of the most iconic party anthems that have ever hit the airwaves in the world of electronic dance-pop. Since its 1999 birth, the track continues to span generations igniting new flames in younger generations just like it did in the late 90s, the only difference now being the platform to which its viewed. The original version peaked at #1 on the Billboard Dance Chart back in 1999 and has now over 150,000 fan-made videos that have been posted on TikTok for the #VengaChallenge including videos by Olly Murs and Jason Derulo.
Being unable to tour the globe due to the coronavirus has kept the Venga Airways grounded, but that hasn’t stopped the Vengaboys from continuing to reach higher heights. This year they garnered more than half a billion plays across streaming platforms, while at the same time Timmy Trumpet saw some of his club hits surpass an astounding one billion streams across streaming platforms. This is one of those collaborations, between two of the most beloved international party starters the world has been waiting for, and within the current landscape of the world, maybe a bit of fun and uplifting vibes is exactly what we needed in a somewhat tumultuous and otherwise dark time. Back during the midst of the Coronavirus lockdown in April of this year, Timmy Trumpet streamed a DJ set from his Sydney apartment and the set saw over one million fans watching from all across the world.
