Electronic music duo SLANDER have announced they will return to Southern California in 2020. On Friday, January 31 they will headline the legendary Shrine Expo Hall in downtown Los Angeles as Goldenvoice Presents SLANDER “THE EYE” featuring Dylan Matthew. Tickets go on sale this Friday, October 18 at noon pt with pre-sale tickets available from 10m pt-10pm pt on Thursday, October 17 with the password EYE.

Electronic music producers MSTRKRFT (Jesse F. Keeler and Al-P) have joined forces with fellow Canadian deadmau5 for the release of their newest single “Let Me See You Move.” Out today (October 4) on deadmau5’ mau5trap imprint, the song will be featured on an EP titled Sunshine Of MY Life set for release, October 18.

“Let Me See You Move” is one of four raw techno tracks to be featured on the EP. Expect the MSTRKRFT treatment meant for big rooms & big dancefloors for the very first time MSTRKRFT and mau5trap are releasing music together.

About MSTRKRFT:
MSTRKRFT (pronounced “master kraft”) are the alter ego of Death from Above 1979’s Jesse F. Keeler along with producer Al-P. Hailing from Toronto, the duo makes a move from DFA 1979’s abrasive rock to robotic electronic complete with vocoders and handclaps. In addition to releasing two singles (“Easy Love” and “Work on You”) and an LP in July 2006 on Last Gang Records, MSTRKRFT have remixed several buzz bands such as Metric, Wolfmother, the Kills, and Bloc Party. As their profile grew (and their album was re-released by Modular) they also began remixing bigger names like Kylie Minogue, Usher, and John Legend, as well as more pop-learning artists like Annie and Jesse McCartney. For their second album, 2009’s Fist of God, the duo jumped to Dim Mak/Downtown and scored guest appearances from Ghostface Killah and E-40. The album spawned two hits with John Legend (“Heartbreaker”) and N.O.R.E (“Bounce”). A DFA reunion would keep KEELER busy in the years between MSTRKRFT releases, and the duo would not appear until 2016 when they released their third effort Operator. The duo currently have stripped down pure techno sound and are busy releasing new singles on their own new imprint, Oro Records.

Today, October 4, electronic musician deadmau5 celebrates the release of here’s the drop!, and album of remixes of material from his 2018 orchestral album where’s the drop?. For it, plenty of revered tastemakers have been tapped for their talents to make this remix album a cerebral journey through sound.

The 15t tracks featured on here’s the drop! range from deadmau5’ most popular tracks (“strobe,” “monophobia”) to the more obscure (“hr 8939 cephei,” “caritas”) all with a twist. Morgan Page—who deadmau5 remixed his 2013 single “The Longest Road” (and a set staple on his current cubev3 tour)—offers up his version of “imaginary friends,” Matt Lange tackles “superbia,” and many more expertly reimagined offerings round out this ambitious album from mau5trap’s current artists and alumni such as Mr. Bill, Sian, Rinzen, and Tinlicker. On Saturday, August 17 the duo of Derek Anderson and Scott Land along with NGHTMRE launched “The Alchemy Tour” with a headlining slot to an unprecedented crowd of over 22,000 fans in Long Beach, CA. This week, the tour is heading West: On Thursday, October 3 in Sacramento, CA at Papa Murphy’s Park; Saturday, October 5 in Seattle, WA at The Gorge Amphitheater; and Sunday, October 6 in Boise, ID at Revolution Concert Hall. DJ, producer and Area10 label boss MK (Marc Kinchen) was recently announced as an addition to the Sunday, October 20 bill of the ALL MY FRIENDS Music Festival for a b2b set with a special surprise guest. Today (Sept 26), event organizers have announced that good friend DIPLO will join him for a one-of-a-kind music experience.

Diplo recently launched his deep house-inspired Higher Ground EP and corresponding new house imprint, Higher Ground as a platform to showcase both established and up-and-coming talent in house music, and a new home for Diplo’s own house tracks and collaborations. Aiming to transcend a singular sound or subgenre, Higher Ground represents everything from tech-house to deep/melodic house, lo-fi to Afro-infused house, and everything in between.

“House is where it all came from. Everything we know and love as dance music today started with the masters in Chicago & Detroit almost forty years ago,” Diplo says. “The genre has always been incredibly important to me, and Higher Ground is our homage to the legends and opportunity to champion new sounds and artists from around the world pushing the genre forward.”

Diplo’s pairing with the Detroit house music hit-maker MK makes a perfect fit for the festival. This b2b dynamic will bring the fresh sounds of Diplo’s Higher Ground and Mk’s reborn Area10 labels together and will not be found anywhere else in the U.S. Beyond being like-minded artists musically, the two are actually really good pals. They have a sort of chemistry that is bound to bring a special energy to the ALL MY FRIENDS Music Festival.

MK’s latest track “There For You” with Gorgon City comes in the midst of a hugely busy summer for the producer who has been touring the Area10 brand to some of the world’s most sought-after party locations including Parklife, Creamfields, Ireland’s Life Festival, Scotland’s EH-1. Responsible for creating some of the defining sounds and biggest tracks of early house music, MK has recently released the summer hit “Body 2 Body” which has racked up more than 5 million combined streams to date. Last year MK’s gold-selling single “Back & Forth” peaked at #12 in the official UK Top 40 Singles Chart and remains a mainstay on streaming playlists everywhere. Producer, remixer, DJ and Area10 label boss, Detroit native MK (Marc Kinchen) came to prominence early on in his career with songs like “Always” and “Burning” and records like 4 You and Just A Dream penned under his alter ego 4th Measure Men became some of the most influential house songs of the early ‘90s and still remain so today. Along with his iconic total rework of a song called “Push The Feeling On,” It is said the MK’s sound helped define the sound of 90’s house. In celebration of his cubev3 tour five-night run at the Palladium (September 25-29), deadmau5 is presenting L.A. with an absolutely epic pop-up shop. Located on the world-famous Sunset Strip at 1114 Horn Ave (x Sunset Blvd. in West Hollywood), the pop-up will take place tomorrow, Thursday, September 26 through Saturday, September 28 from noon - 8pm each day.

Here fans will have the opportunity to purchase new and exclusive merchandise from deadmau5 and members of the mau5trap family. These include items like tour tees, jerseys, new crystal wash hoodies, and long sleeves, posters and even tarot cards (from i_o).

Each day of the pop-up fans will be able to experience something different from the world of deadmau5: On Thursday, September 26, deadmau5 will be doing a signing in the store from 3pm-5pm; Friday, September 27 i_o will be in the shop from 2pm-5pm for a signing as well as a specdrum/sphero demo; And Saturday, September 28 is mau5trap day where various label artists will be on hand from 2pm-5pm for a signing. There will also be a 1-hour Q&A panel.

The pop-up will feature an interactive art & music installation powered by Specdrums from Sphero. Fans will have the opportunity to play a set of mau5head color-coded drums and create their own song mixes from the mau5trap Soundpacks in the Specdrums Mix app. Specdrums are musical rings that make the world your instrument by turning colors into sounds. Connect to the Specdrums MIX app and tap on anything —clothes, drawings, or the included playing pad — to create and mix any sounds, beats, and loops that all play through mobile devices.

Come by the mau5trap clubhouse overlooking the iconic Sunset Strip for dope beats and a pop-up experience featuring a “BYOMH” mau5head gallery and an interactive music experience powered by Specdrums. Also on-site are brand new art installations, the cubev3-Themed McLaren 720s Spider, booming sound from PK Sound, beverages by Corona, limited edition merch and much, much more.

Prior to opening to the public, tonight, Wednesday, September 25, the deadmau5 team host a private VIP & press preview event at the shop.

CLOSE COMBINED is the next evolution in the lineage of Hawtin’s iconic DE9 mix album, which Resident Advisor called one of the top mixes of the decade. It contains music from Charlotte de Witte, ANNA and many more, along with additional live production created with Hawtin’s on-stage arsenal of effects, drum machines, and analog synthesizers. The release was preceded last week by the single “Core Resonance (CLOSE COMBINED)” with Cortechs & Mental Resonance along with Hawtin’s additional production.

The a/v album is presented in a unique three-panel vertical layout allowing the viewer to observe distinct visual perspectives from the CLOSE performances — crowd view, stage set-up, and equipment close-ups — bringing the audience closer to the creative impulse that drives Hawtin’s performance. Hawtin worked closely together with long-term collaborator and project visual editor Ali M. Demirel to realize CLOSE COMBINED. Itaru Yasuda’s CLOSE Live visuals also receive their own focus in various angles throughout the video.

Richie Hawtin states: “I believe that as our scene has become more popular, the definition of DJing has become more narrow. I want to be as transparent as possible in how, why and what I play in order to bring focus onto the intuitive spontaneity that is at the heart of a great DJ performance. CLOSE COMBINED continues my exploration into my own creative tendencies and invites my fans along to get close to the instinctive impulses that drive my creativity.

Officially launched at Coachella in 2017, the ‘CLOSE live’ experiment was first tested on an unsuspecting audience at Unsound Festival in Krakow, Poland in 2016. Since then, the show has been featured at festivals like Sónar, Primavera Sound, Nuits Sonores and concerts at The Roundhouse in London, L’Olympia in Paris, and the Sydney Opera House.

The multi-platform release will also be available in full on YouTube, Apple Music, and Facebook Video, with an audio-only version available on all digital music stores via his own Plus 8 Records imprint.

Hawtin’s CLOSE explores the relationship between human creativity and the innovative technologies that enable an artist to express themselves. Hailing from London, Duke Dumont was initially born deaf. With corrective surgery, it inadvertently shaped the way he interprets sounds, with tone and timbre taking precedence over words & lyrics and an appreciation for all things audio. About MK:
Producer, remixer, DJ and Area10 label boss, Detroit native MK (Marc Kinchen) came to prominence early on in his career with songs like “Always” and “Burning” and records like “4 You” and “Just A Dream” penned under his alter ego 4th Measure Men became some of the most influential house songs of the ‘90s and still remain so today. Along with his iconic complete rework of a song called “Push The Feeling On,” he was able to put a heretofore unknown group on the map. His sound shaped the sound of house in the decade of 90’s house. A look ahead to the early 2000s showed MK sharpening his R&B skills with powerhouses like Will Smith, Quincy Jones and Diane Warren. By 2007 or so, MK was ready for a change again, house was calling him back. So with a fast forward to the 2013 release of MK’s rework of Storm Queen’s “Look Right Through” that scored a U.K. number #1 on the official singles chart. MK followed the success just one year later with his remix of “My Head Is A Jungle” by Wankelmut & Emma Louise - the Ibiza anthem of 2014.

After that came Bakermat’s rework of gospel great Shirley Caesar’s “Teach Me,” followed by remixes for Rudimental’s “Powerless” featuring Becky Hill, Disclosure’s “White Noise,” Hot Natured’s “Reverse Skydiving,” and Lana Del Rey’s “Blue Jeans,” “Summertime Sadness,” and “West Coast,” as well as remixes for HAIM, Rihanna, Diplo, Tove Lo, Halsey, Mark Ronson, Elderbrook, Mary J Blige, Sam Smith, Sigrid, Ellie Goulding, London Grammar, and many more.

While keeping busy in the studio, MK and Becky Hill decided to do another record together and released the platinum “Piece of Me.” Marc’s next song “17,” released in 2017, also achieved platinum status and to date has streamed over 300 million times on Spotify. Most recent is the gold certified “Back & Forth,” which came with a full complement of incredible mixes and saw its way through as a favorite at festivals and shows such as SW4, We Are FSTVL, Parklife, Amnesia, Pacha, Ushuaia, EDC, WHP, Tomorrowland, and Creamfields - where MK curated his own Area10 stages. Following this string of successful singles, his current offering is “Body 2 Body,” which has already received massive global support.
