Sharing its name both with the upcoming EP and the Canadian duo’s past live tour, “Nights Like This” includes the trademark touches of New York City’s GRAMMY award-winning DJ/producer CID and perfectly sets the tone for the two remaining singles of the EP which are set to drop between now and the EP’s full release on March 27.

Released in the wake of their recent single “Cold Feet,” “Nights Like This” is the first-ever crossbreed masterpiece between the Canadian stars and the American GRAMMY winner. Steeped in pop appeal, infectious top lines, and dance-floor-tailored grooves, the record brings with it a natural effervescence tailor to dance music today.

“We’re very good friends with Carlos Cid, and one day we said we should make a record together,” explains Loud Luxury’s Joe De Pace. “We worked with Carlos on the track and then he met us on our bus tour, so we actually made part of it on the tour bus.”

“What was funny about that,” adds Andrew Fedyk, “…was that was the last song for the EP, and we wrote that song around the theme of ‘Nights Like This’ because we knew that’s what we wanted to make the tour and the EP about. We were looking for something that touched on that theme and helped to create that world.”

It’s been an amazing ride for university friends Andrew Fedyk and Joe De Pace, better known as Canadian duo Loud Luxury. With their now worldwide smash hit “Body” (feat. After their worldwide hugely successful 3-D concert tours, the Electro pioneers Kraftwerk announce North American tour dates for summer 2020. Bringing together music, 3-D visuals and performance art, KRAFTWERK are a true “Gesamtkunstwerk” a total work of art.

The multi-media project Kraftwerk was started in 1970 by Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider. They set up their electronic Kling Klang Studio in Düsseldorf, Germany where they conceived and produced all Kraftwerk albums. By the mid-1970’s Kraftwerk had achieved international recognition for their revolutionary electronic soundscapes and their musical experimentation with robotics and other technical innovations. With their visions of the future, Kraftwerk created the soundtrack for their digital age of the 21st century. Their compositions, using innovative techniques, synthetic voices and computerized rhythms, have had a major international influence across an entire range of music genres: from Electro to Hip Hop, from Techno to SynthPop.

In their live performances, Kraftwerk- Ralf Hütter, Henning Schmitz, Fritz Hilpert, Falk Grieffenhagen-illustrate their belief in the respective contributions of both man and machine. Starting with the retrospective of their catalogue at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 2012, in recent years Kraftwerk have returned full circle back to their origins within the Düsseldorf art scene of the late sixties. The 3-D concert series at MoMA was followed by further presentations at Tate Modern Turbine Hall (London), Akasaka Blitz (Tokyo), Opera House (Sydney), Walt Disney Concert Hall (Los Angeles), Foundation Louis Vuitton (Paris), Neue National Galerie (Berlin), and Guggenheim Museum (Bilbao). In 2014 Ralf Hütter and his former partner were honored with the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.

“Iron Ox” starts with an ambient fusion of pad-like chords, a beat, and a plucked ukulele. “The beat is strong and persevering as the layers build to an almost overwhelmingly saturated atmosphere. The title is a direct reference to a strong animal symbol but also a play on words - Iron-Ox being short for iron oxide, or rust,” says Appling. “Rust is formed when metal mixes with water. The timbres in this song are metallic and fluid. The spirit of the song is maintaining a steady strength despite the constantly changing waters of our lives and the entropy of time.”

Mountain of Memory’s 13 free-flowing tracks effortlessly encapsulate his entire musical history without sounding forced or overly complicated: Mid-tempo dance grooves, solid boom-bap hip-hop beats, and calm, reflective tempos blend with electric and acoustic guitars, classical violin, Persian dilruba, cimbaloms, finger snaps, symphonic strings, bubbling water, Latin and African hand drumming, music boxes, Baroque flutes and opera singers, who add unexpected vocal ornamentations to accent certain melodic phrases. Underlying it all is the bed of sound Appling produces using electric pianos, ethereal synthesizer washes, processed and almost inaudible vocals, soothing ambient textures and the pulsing of an infinite heartbeat produced by electronic bass tones.

Acclaimed electronic music pioneer Jean-Michel Jarre will make his SXSW debut on Tuesday, March 17 as a panelist for “Music Copyright & AI: Who Owns Code-Created Songs?” The panel, moderated by The Verge’s Dani Deahl, will explore the new field of music copyright and AI. Jarre comes to SXSW in support of his latest project, EōN: a dynamic music app available now via iOS which produces infinite, ever-evolving music, accompanied by a constant progression of organic visuals. EōN — named after the ancient Greek god of time and eternity — made its global premiere at Web Summit in Lisbon this past November. It is a work of art designed to be played endlessly. Using original musical elements composed by Jarre specifically for the project, the app creates a never-repeating and completely unique musical experience for every user, every time. Jarre’s SXSW participation marks his first U.S. appearance since the app’s release.

A world-first due to its sheer scope and scale, the app combines man and machine as the algorithm weaves together original material — beats, melodies, chords — which Jarre composed, performed and recorded in his studio. A stark difference to other generative-music apps, EōN is not limited to a linear, ‘ambient-music’ style, and is instead more like a never-ending album with a rich variety of tempo, tones, and rhythms.

Upon completing his compositions for the app, Jarre approached Sony Computer Science Laboratories in Tokyo (SONY CSL) researcher, Alexis André, to bring the music to life visually by creating an intricate and elaborate flow of ever-evolving graphics. The encoding and final algorithm was delivered by Alexis Zbik and Vianney Apreleff from French music tech company BLEASS who, with Jarre’s artistic direction, defined the rules of the app and how it orchestrates the music.

Delivering an unrivaled experience through endless hours of original music, EōN produces an individual piece of art for every user. They are able to listen to music generated by EōN both online and offline as the algorithm and audio engine are built directly into the app.

Jarre is at the forefront of artists using new technology for music, most recently in partnership with TheWaveVR, allowing users to experience his latest album, Equinoxe Infinity, in virtual reality. With technology at the core of everything we do today, Jarre believes that “this is the most exciting time in history to make music”. His ongoing collaboration with WONY CSL is proving to be immensely productive and insightful and will inform Jarre’s next creative endeavour.

When describing EōN and the collaborative experience, SONY CSL’s Alexis André said: “An audio-visual journey that transcends time… I could not think of a better challenge, and it’s been a priceless experience to bring the sounds of Jean-Michel Jarre to the screen.”

“EōN revolutionizes the sheer concept of ‘recorded’ music as we have always known it by immersing the listener in a timeless sonic (and visual) experience which has no start nor finishing note,” adds BLEASS co-founder Vianney Apreleff. “It’s an immense honour for BLEASS and myself to be part of this new artform envisioned by Jean-Michel Jarre.”

Priced at $8.99, the app is updated regularly with new features and will also be available to other platforms including Android in the very near future.

Today, February 13, Bedouin (Tamer Malki & Rami Abou-Sabe) who are one of the leaders of international house music have announced the launch of their new label Human By Default. Serving as a destination for their own original music as Bedouin along with new music that they love by artists they meet along the road, Human By Default marks its first release with the Whistleman EP on March 27.

Celebrating the launch of Human By Default, Bedouin will perform alongside special guests during Miami Music Week with a showcase at The Beach Club March 19 with festival appearances set for Coachella April 12 & 19 and III Points in early May.

“The name of the label serves as a reminder that being human is the only choice in life we don’t have the privilege making. Every other choice in life we can make for ourselves and we embrace this heavily as artists in our quest to challenge everything we currently understand musically,” states Bedouin. “The artists we have carefully selected encompass the careful balance between musical discipline and creativity and have proven over and over the ability to create what we feel is the most forward-thinking and honest expressions. With an entire year of releases each month already in the pipeline, Human By Default will hit the ground running next month with the Whistleman EP. The title track opens with smooth keys, shimmering percussion, a warming bassline and gorgeously delicate vocals that send you into aural bliss. “Firefly” swings with marimba samples, churning shakers and bubbly synth patterns until “Voodoo” rumbles with Afro-Cuban drums, exciting vocal work, Santur like pads and rolling electric stabs. Finally, multifaceted musician and producer Pablo Fierro provides his signature rhythm and shuffle to the “Whistleman” original with claves, rattling snares and a euphorically charged break.

Malki and Abou-Sabe formed as Bedouin in 2012 and have since established themselves as two of the most vital names in melodic house music. As producers, their mesmerizing synth-driven cuts have arrived on top tier labels like Crosstown Rebels, All Day I Dream and Supernature. Meanwhile, as performers, they continue to headline clubs and play at festivals across the globe including Burning Man, Extrema Outdoor Belgium, Kappa Futur Festival and Tomorrowland, as well as Coachella and III Points. Their Ibiza residency SAGA—now entering its fourth season—has gone on to become a renowned worldwide event series.

Last night, Sunday, January 26, legendary Mack Sennett Studios and Producer Robin Nixon (TECYES) in Los Angeles’ artistic Silver Lake neighborhood hosted their second annual private party on GRAMMY night to celebrate the dance/electronic GRAMMY nominees. The event—presented by Mack Sennett Studios, TECYES and sponsor Bliss Molecules—featured performances by nominees Apparat, Bonobo, Meduza and Tycho along with a surprise b2b set with Jon George of Rufus Du Sol and Bob Moses.

Many artists and key producers in the electronic music genre attended the event including Moby, TOKiMONSTA, Flosstradamus, Flume, Bonnie McKee, Rhye, Latroit, Gary Go and Latin producer/remixer/engineer Rafa Sardina.

Sponsors for the night included OCA, Quanta, Jack Daniel’s, Peroni, Gothic Gin, Another Planet Entertainment and Red Light Entertainment.

The first annual afterparty celebrating the Grammy’s Dance/Electronic nominees was held on February 10, 2019. Tapped by DoLA as one of their favorite afterparty moments, the night was celebrated with DJ sets from “Best Dance/Electonic Album” GRAMMY winners Justice as well as Busy P, Rick Trainor, and Riton.

Next up, the ‘6am Remix’ from Glasgow’s KC Lights is the most soulful offering within the package, while Liverpool-based duo Nightlapse asserts themselves with a pounding rework centered around forceful kick drums. Closing things out, Italian Mirko Di Florio transforms “One Night” into an early morning dance floor groover and US favorite Treasure Fingers brings Raphaella’s vocal talents to the fore with his take on the original.

“One Night” capped off another massively successful year for MK, who took his AREA10 brand to some of the world’s most sought-after party locations, including Creamfields, Parklife, Life Festival and Ibiza Rocks. In the US, he appeared at Gather Festival, Movement and clubs across Miami, Atlantic City and Las Vegas, while on the production front, he released progressive club hit “Body 2 Body” in June, a track that has since amassed over a million streams on YouTube alone followed up by summer smash “There For You” in collaboration with U.K duo Gorgon City which has racked up over fourteen million streams on Spotify.

In addition to the slew of new releases, MK’s new globally syndicated radio show AREA10 On Air airs every third Thursday at 8PM ET on SiriusXM Diplo’s Revolution (Channel 52). Fans can also listen to the radio show every month via Apple Podcasts. As the sun rose in the Caribbean on the morning of Thursday, January 9, over 3,000 cruisers aboard FRIENDSHIP (www.thefriendship.com) on Royal Caribbean’s Navigator of the Seas gathered for a unique musical experience — DESTRUCTO’s dawn at sea party set ‘The Sermon.’ Joining the DJ & producer during the set which clocked in at just under 4 hours and 20 minutes was GRiZ for a live sax performance to Christopher Cross yacht rock classic “Ride Like the Wind” and b2b moments with Boys Noize, Bob Moses’ Jimmy Valance and Danny Daze, among others. It was stacked with unreleased and new material as well as catalogue favorites from all.
